Life Force, Qi, Chi, Prana, by whatever name we call it, energy continually pours from the earth into our feet and from the heavens into the top of our head. It flows into our energetic pathways: the chakras, subchakras and acupuncture meridians, on its way into every physical cell inside.
Chakras are wheels of light that pump energy through the central core of the body. The root chakra is at the tailbone, the crown chakra at the top of the head. Each chakra relates to and feeds into particular parts of the body and psyche. When healers channel energy, healing occurs in the emotional and mental layers as well as the dense physical layer.

In 1977 healer Rosalyn Bruyere helped scientists measure the vibrational frequency of each chakra (physical evidence of chakras). Her book, Wheels of Light, explains the electromagnetic energy of the chakras, their history in world cultures, and much more.

Chakra Sounds*
Here are some vibrational sounds you can use to stimulate your chakras and begin to feel them in your body. Anodea Judith suggests the simple vowel sounds below may be most effective for Westerners, and I find them so. Also listed (in italics) are the traditional sounds from India, spoken with an "ah" vowel. Get into a relaxed meditative state of mind, and repeat one sound over and over while focusing your attention on that chakra’s location in your body. Start with “oh” at the tailbone.
Chakra 1 base of spine oh lam ('lahm')
Chakra 2 low belly / navel oo vam
Chakra 3 solar plexus ah ram
Chakra 4 heart ay yam
Chakra 5 throat ee ham
Chakra 6 3rd eye mmm om
Chakra 7 crown nng silence
